Talisker 57° North

Named after the latitudinal location of the distillery, Talisker 57° North is a No-Age-Statement single malt that was released in 2008, initially as a travel exclusive, but has been discontinued. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon casks and, in accordance to the theme, is bottled at 57% strength. 

The nose is very clean and intense, with light smoke soon appearing. Creamy toffee, with pronounced fruit acidity. Tart fruit, sweet to start, with smoke and tar abruptly exploding around the middle of the mouth. Sweet-centred, a little like liqueur chocolate, yet tempered by a savoury edge that stops things becoming too polite. The finish is oily and fairly medicinal with a drying tartness.
