Seduced, then abandoned by the One Ring, Sméagol or Gollum’s association with it is undoubtedly the most tragic. Although it prolongs his life, its terrible power turns him into a misshapen solitary and malicious creature. In the end, and despite selfish intentions, it is Gollum who is responsible for the destruction of the Ruling Ring and Sauron with it.
